Yamaha C5 Grand Piano
Tonal quality and performance
Refinements in copper-wound string specifications deliver purer, more perfectly pitched and harmonious bass.
Barrel-shaped treble hammer shanks, similar to those of the concert grand, improve dynamic and tonal response.
Bridges crafted from choice, finely grained woods, selected to complement each scale design, provide superior sound transmission.
Rim specifications attuned to the characteristics of each model optimize strength, stability and resonance.
Model-specific production enables more-focused tuning, voicing and regulation, for optimal long-term performance.
Precise note-by-note strike point alignment produces crisper, clearer tones.
Heightened precision in damper installation offers superior pedaling and expressive control.
What people are saying:
I owned one for 12 years. I played it till the hammers needed replacing.
I recently traded it in and bought a Steinway M. At first I liked the C5,
but it is a VERY loud and VERY bright piano and it really started to get to
me. I did every thing I could to try to make it more "mellow" but
nothing worked. It just kept getting louder and brighter. I even put a one
inch pad over the strings trying bring down the volume and the brightness
and it helped a little but I eventually grew to really dislike the Yamaha
"sound".
The Steinway M is almost the opposite...it's soft and sweet and mellow. I
really love it.
In fact, in one hall there is a 3 year old Yamaha C5, and a 20 year old
Steinway D with a new action, and the students prefer the Yamaha
